Vision and Goals
Sport is ideal to develop fairness and team spirit and serves as an important contribution towards the individual and social development of learners.
Everyone knows that Sport leads to maintaining health and increasing the sense of wellbeing, but having fun moving around in sport should not be ignored.
The DSK accepts all these important prerequisites for growing up in a healthy manner through the quality of its revised sports programme on offer.
We would like to motivate our learners to utilise diverse sport extra-murals offered by a team of selected trainers and dedicated teachers, and we challenge our school community to support our learners in their sports activities.
Group 1: Age group 2004 and younger
The German Schools of Southern Africa organize a Sports Olympiad every two years:
It is a huge and prestigious event for the schools and definitely the sporting highlight of the year!
The students from the German Schools in Cape Town, Windhoek, Johannesburg, Pretoria and Hermannsburg compete in 7 different forms of sports in one week.
The venue for the Olympiad rotates every time; the next event will be hosted at the Deutsche Höhere Privatschule Windhoek, in 2018.
The Sports Olympiad team selection
As required by the regulations, the Olympiad team is made up of 48 students and 2 student representatives.
The team in turn is divided into 3 age groups:
Group 2: Age group 2003/2002
Group 3: Age group 2001/2000/1999
It is always a big challenge for our sports teachers and extra mural coaches to choose the best team.
Save the date for our Olympia qualifying swim galas and athletic competitions in 2017:
Swimming galas: 16 and 18 October 2017
Athletic competitions: 19 and 26 October 2017
Every learner from Grade 5 up is welcome to participate!
