Die Vergleichsarbeit A1 is a language exam. It gives the student a certificate of competency in german language.

Who sits for the exam?

Vergleichsarbeit A1 must be obtained by every DaF (German as Foreign Language) student of Grade 5.

When does it take place?

It takes place in term 4 of every year;

What is the procedure of the exam?

It comprises three written examinations:
The written examination takes place only on one day:

  • Listening skills – 15 min
  • Reading skills – 15 min

(read aloud by the teacher)

  • Writing skills – 15 min

The oral exam:

  • In a small group a moderated talk (per examinee about 4-5 min)

DSD II is equal to Level A1 of the combined European frame of reference.
