Welcome to the German International School Cape Town (DSK)!
The DSK is a bilingual German school abroad, where we welcome learners and families from more than 40 nations to our international school community. A multinational and multicultural character distinguishes our school life. We foster understanding, mutual respect and open-mindedness. Intercultural schooling is an important aspect of our learners’ development, and we embrace this diversity as we constantly learn with and from each other. We strive to give our learners an excellent, diverse and holistic education that prepares them for the challenges ahead. Our vision is to provide our learners with skills and values to become balanced, capable and responsible members of our global society.
At the DSK, we empower our learners to think critically, independently, and voice their own opinions. We promote problem-solving and autonomous learning as it is the basis of becoming independent and confident young adults. The DSK offers an outstanding academic education through individual support and by providing our learners with the opportunity to develop academically, socially and personally, to reach their full potential while nurturing and growing their talents and passions. We teach German mother-tongue learners from Grade 1 – 12 and English-speaking learners from Grade 5 – 12, respectively. A unique characteristic of the DSK is that our learners graduate with one of two double qualifications. Both school leaving options can open doors to an international career. Our learners obtain either:
IEB –NSC (National Senior Certificate examined by the Independent Examination Board) and the German Language Diploma at level B2 / C1 or
Combined Qualification with the IEB-NSC and the German International Abitur
The DSK is a full-day school with aftercare facilities and a comprehensive range of extramural activities focusing on sectors of music, art, the environment and sport, to name just a few. A small boarding school for learners from Grade 9 in High school offers further opportunities for exchange and encounters. We have modern facilities, while the teaching and learning methods are diverse and in line with current teaching research.
