  • promotes actively the school’s name

  • builds relationships with relevant external stakeholders
  • develops and adheres to policies and procedures of the school
  • develops professionally local teachers incl. appraisal meetings
  • manages compliance with regard to local educational standards and regulatory requirements,
  • compiles statistics for local and German educational authorities
  • oversights school events
  • represents the school (in cooperation and absence of the Headmaster)
  • will have teaching obligations associated with this post (max 8 periods / week)
  • has experience in public speaking

Job profile:

  • A teaching (university) degree
  • 8 – 10 years teaching experience in a full-time capacity
  • An additional qualification in a business-related field is advantageous
  • SACE registered
  • Experience within the South African school system (IEB and NSC).
  • A previous managerial position in a similar role (HOD, Deputy, Executive Assistance to management position) is an advantage
  • South African resident or work visa for South Africa or permanent residence status mandatory

Head of Finance and Administration

The German International School in Cape Town is looking for a Head of Finance and Administration for the new school year 2022The DSK is a bilingual German school abroad in the heart of Cape Town with about 930 learners from grade 1-12.  Thus primary, middle and high school.We are looking for a dynamic and experienced person who can strategically lead the finance and administrative area of the school and work with various stakeholders as from the new school year 2022. As a senior leader, this position is responsible for the financial and administrative effectiveness of all departments and day to day financial wellbeing of the school.  The Head of Finance and Administration is part of the senior management team of the school, in contact with many authorities and actively participates in a number of committees at the school including but not limited to personnel, finance, occupational safety, construction projects. Requirements profile

  • Tertiary Commercial / business qualification or equivalent work experience of at least 8 years
  • Work experience in a school environment advantageous
  • At least 5 years of successful management (team leader) experience
  • Experience in business accounting, policies -procedures, practices and accounting (programs

applicable e.g. PASTEL)

  • Experience in / willingness to work with national and German authorities

French Teacher Grade 6-9

Teaching vacancies for October 2021 (start date 04.10.2021)

French teacher (grade 6-9); currently assigned with 24 periods per week

French is taught as a second language from grade 6-12. The high school offer from grade 10 is only for students continuing with the German Matric or combi matric (NSC+German matric), so the person must also speak German. We are currently looking for someone to take the classes 6-9 in French, per class with 4 hours per week, no German language skills are required. The DSK is a bilingual Primary and High School, which offers South African and European University Entrance Qualifications and is one of 140 official German schools abroad, subsidized by the German Government.

  • A teaching diploma/ degree in relevant field and SACE registration.
  • 3 years working experience as a French language teacher on monther tongue level, but also experience in second language teaching
  • The ideal candidate has experience with DELF (Diplôme d’Études en Langue Française)
  • Additional subjects advantageous (e.g. English, Drama, Music, Sport)
  • Excellent French language skills and English verbal and written skills; German language skills are advantageous
