Prep for Success Beyond Graduation High School
Individualised focuses and intensive preparation for graduation and life beyond. At the DSK, learners earn their diplomas by successfully completing the German Abitur and/or the South African National Senior Certificate.
Graduation German Stream
Learners in the German stream benefit from the Treaty Agreement between the Federal Republic of Germany and the Republic of South Africa, allowing them to graduate with the combination of the German International Abitur and the NSC (National Senior Certificate). This dual qualification paves the way for a multitude of academic and professional opportunities worldwide.
Most components of the curriculum and the Abitur exams are collaboratively developed with our partner schools in Pretoria, Johannesburg, and Windhoek. They are accredited by the German Ministry of Education (KMK), ensuring a high standard of educational excellence.
Every learner in the Abitur/German Stream who passes grade 10 gets a Middle School Certificate (Mittlere Reife). This allows to go on to the Qualification Phase of the German High School (grades 11 and 12).
Upon request, learners in the German stream can also obtain the Realschulabschluss at the end of Grade 10, enabling them to pursue an apprenticeship career in Germany.
Graduation English Stream
Learners in the English stream graduate with the IEB NSC, and those who earn a Bachelor’s Degree pass can apply to South African universities.
The South African National Curriculum is regulated by the Department of Basic Education. Examinations in these subjects adhere to the IEB NSC exams and are accredited by Umalusi, the Council for Quality Assurance in General and Further Education in South Africa.
Additionally, in Grade 11, learners have the chance to take the German Language Diploma II (DSD II). Successfully completing this diploma qualifies them to study at many universities and colleges in Germany.
