Parent Involvement & Council
Be part of our vibrant community Parent Involvement
Family Engagements
We warmly invite you to actively participate in school life at the DSK and become part of our vibrant community.
There are numerous ways to get involved, such as joining the bazaar committee, parent representation, the parent council and its various portfolios, or the school board.
Throughout the year, DSK hosts many events like concerts, learner performances, talent nights, sports events, and the popular DSK School Bazaar, where you are welcome as a guest or helper. Together, we create unforgettable experiences and strengthen our sense of community.
Additionally, you can contribute at the DSK Career Indaba (e.g., as a career advisor or internship provider), as a donor for our Ubuntu Talent Fund, or as a helper at many smaller events.
The Ubuntu Talent Fund, established in 2019, specifically supports children from financially disadvantaged families in realising their potential. For information please refer to Scholarships & Bursaries.
Parent Council
The parent council (also known as the “Elternrat”) consists of elected parent representatives who represent their respective classes for two consecutive years. The parent council functions as the voice of the parents and by extension the learners too. They address the teaching body, school management board, and school activities with regards to the interest of both parents and learners.
The parent council is divided into various portfolio committees and tasks, which vary according to urgency and need, and is particularly involved in organising school activities.
